Travel to The Hague

Options

  • High Speed Rail (Eurostar, Thalis) to Rotterdam Central Station, and then a direct train to various stations in The Hague, check connection on ns.nl .
  • Rail, please check ns.nl to plan your trip. Main stations are The Hague Central Station and The Hague HS.

To use the train you may be able to use your bank debit card or credit card (if Maestro, V-Pay, Visa or Mastercard). Or you can download the OVPay app on your phone. If your bank or credit card does not work, you will need to purchase a card at the yellow ticket machines.

Please note that you need to check-in as well as check-out when using public transport.

Travel from the airport to The Hague

  • Schiphol Airport is the main airport for Netherlands and is a major transfer hub in Europe. To travel from Schiphol to The Hague, you have several options:
  • Train: The most popular and efficient way is to take a train from Schiphol Airport to The Hague. Trains run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes, and the journey takes about 28-30 minutes. Trains to The Hague normally depart from platform 5 or 6 of the underground station under Schiphol Plaza, follow the signage to the trains.

You will need to check-in by swiping the card or phone at the yellow OV-check-in poles located in Schiphol Plaza near the escalators and lifts to the underground platforms. You also need to check-out by swiping your card or phone at the OV-card reader when you disembark

 

  • Bus: You can also take a bus, which may take around 1 hour and 45 minutes depending on the route. You can use your phone, bank or credit card to check-in and check-out.
  • Taxi: Taxis are available take about 30-40 minutesdepending on traffic. A fixed price for the transfer to The Hague should be agreed with the taxi driver before departure. Transfers fees vary between 90 and 140 Euro per taxi.

For the most convenient option, the train is highly recommended due to its speed and frequency.

  • Rotterdam Airport is a smaller airport near The Hague that can cater for budget airlines.
  • By bus and light rail: Take the bus 33 (5 minutes) to the Meijerplein station, where the light rail (metro) E connection to The Hague Central Station departs (25 minutes). You can use your phone, bank or credit card to check-in and check-out, cost between 4 and 7 Euro.
  • Taxi from the Airport is 22 km, about 17 minutes for between 70 and 90 Euro. Check the price with the driver before travelling.

Eindhoven Airport is the third Dutch airport, but is about 85 km from The Hague. The transfer by public transport (bus and train) is about 2 hours.

 

Travel in the Hague

During and around the conference, you can use the OVpay app on your phone, bank or credit card to pay in all trams, busses, light rail and trains. Taxis will accept bank and credit cards with a chip to pay electronically, or cash.

The conference organizers can also offer the 3-day Congress Card that give unlimited use of public transport. This card costs about 17 Euro pp.
